Chanukah celebrations in Holmdel and Colts Neck

The Chabad House of Holmdel has announced plans to increase its outreach programs and celebratory events for the upcoming Festival of Chanukah, Dec. 11-19, 2009.

Rabbi Ephi Carlebach, director of Chabad House of Holmdel explained, “As we celebrate Chanukah, we remember the great sacrifices that were made by our ancestors, over 2,000 years ago.  We are encouraged by their feats of courage, and in turn, we resolve to be more like them, and help make this world a place of light, instead of allowing darkness to surround us.”

Accordingly, on Sunday, Dec. 13th,the  Chabad of Holmdel will sponsor Chanukah activities at the PNC Bank Arts Center , Holmdel, featuring Lighting of NJ”s Largest Menorah, a musical program, hot refreshments, and a Juggling and Stunt Show Presentation.

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, Chabad House will sponsor the “Chanukah Wonderland”   at ShopRite of Aberdeen.   This program will allow all participants to craft their own Menorah, Make a Driedel, and other Chanukah crafts. They will also experience the olive Press Workshop and hear the story of the Maccabees.

During the week of Chanukah, the teen volunteers of Chabad House will also visit Nursing homes and senior citizen institutions throughout northern Monmouth County

Visits will also be made to homes of Special Needs children bringing the Chanukah spirit, sharing gifts, and Chanukah material to dozens of young men and women.

Rabbi Ephi Carlebach stated, “As Chanukah is the Festival of Light, we are once again energized to bring the Light of Torah and Mitzvot to all our fellow Jewish friends and neighbors.  We have set our goal at reaching every Jewish home in the area with mailings, programs, classes, and Menorah lightings.  We hope that this Chanukah will bring inspiration and light to every family and individual in our area.”
